Gettysburg

Four score and seven years ago ….. no I am not going to write the whole speech out but you get the point. It turns out that Gettysburg, where Lincoln made he’s famous Gettysburg Address is just down the road (about 45 minutes). I am quickly learning that this area of the country is not short on civil war history. Some of the most important (and most deadly) battles in the civil war took place not far from here. And of course since slavery was one of the biggest triggers of the civil war there is a lot of black history to explore as well. (A quick history lesson, several slave owning southern states were not fans of Abraham Lincoln and the slave free north so they left the good old US of A and became the Confederate States of America. They then shot some cannons at Charleston South Carolina and thus the civil war between the North (the Union) and the South (the Confederate) began. Of course lucky for us the North won.) So much to see and do I think I will need more than 26 weeks to explore even a little bit of it. Oh well, I guess the plan is just to see as much as possible over the next few months and then see where the future takes me.
