Start spreading the news!!!

Well I made it home from my often mentioned visit to New York City and now I am madly trying to sort through a few hundred pictures (yes that's right a few hundred....that is what happens when you take 50 pictures of the Statue of Liberty from every possible angle, from the right side she almost smiles). In short there will be no pictures in this posting but many, many in a posting in the very near future.

What can I say about New York.....what an amazing place. My few days there were so overwhelming but so awesome (yeah I said awesome) at the same time. Too much to see in a few days and I did not have any time to go shopping (although the cheap knock-off purses were calling my name which is really wierd since I don't really carry a purse...this east coast air is doing wierd things to me I think). I took a couple bus tours and it seemed like every street we went down there were two or three things to see. I have a huge list of things that I want to go back and see once I am settled in New Haven (well actually I will be living in very close by Hamden but working in New Haven but that is a totally different blog). It is very close and on a direct train route so day trips will be plenty (or that is the plan right now).

Anyway, what did I see and what will you eventually see pictures of? (well of some things anyways).....of course the previously mentioned Statue of Liberty (a must), Ellis Island (you have no choice, the ferry takes you there from Liberty Island before it takes you back to Manhattan so you may as well take a look), the Empire State Building (at night by the way), Time Square, Madison Square Garden (it's really round but don't worry I will give you the history of the name later), the New York Rangers (we didn't hang out or anything like that), The Village, Soho, Brooklyn, Harlem, the UN, Ground Zero, some museums, some old bulidings, a whole bunch of churches, parking prices like you would not believe (how does 11.85 plus tax for the first half hour sound?) etc, etc, etc!!!!

What didn't I see....that list is actually longer the list of things I did see so I will not list them here. Anyway, back to my picture sorting....stay tuned for some sights and sounds from the city the never sleeps (even the post office is open 24 hours a day).
