A few flowers.....and a few too many people

March 29, 2008

So I think I have hit that point in my life when the inevitable as occured.....oh yes I am turning into my mother......see all the pictures of flowers as exhibit A. I headed to the Cherry Blossom Festival in DC the other weekend bascially because I was told I had to see it while I was out here. What I did not expect was to be so impressed with all the flowering trees. They were so amazing. The 14 billion other people that chose to see them the same day were not so amazing but hey I guess they come together.

A nice close up view of some of the blossoms.

An example of the trees and of all the people who were there to check them out. At one point I could not even cross the street because I ran into a huge crowd of people waiting to cross the street the other way. Didn't change how nice the flowers were but reminded me why I stay away from DC most weekends.

Of course the tidal basin is not the only place you can find cherry blossoms. In fact you can find them almost anywhere around here (including outside my apartment) but it is the volume of trees that you find in such a small area that make them so amazing.

A look at the Jefferson Memorial through some of the blossoms.

I don't think this picture really shows how thick the trees and the blossoms are but I have tried to share it with you.

Walking underneath those same blossoms in the picture above. So amazing.
