Another Ballpark

May 20th, 2008

Well since I attended the final game at RFK Stadium in Washington at the end of last season I have had plans to hit a game at the new Nationals Park. Because my contract in Baltimore was ending and I was not sure where I would be heading I thought I better hit a game before I left (who knew 10 days later I would be back in DC). I had heard nothing but good things about the park. It certainly was an improvement from RFK (although almost anything would be). Of course some of the best parts are for the players only (all the players' lockers have IPOD adapters and lots of plug-ins to charge thier various electronics). Of course if you are not that into baseball and just get dragged to the park by someone else....or maybe you have kids that can't sit through a whole game, there are many other things in the ballpark to keep you occupied.

The Philles' Ryan Howard

I picked a tuesday night game, partly because I had the day off, partly because the Phillies were in town (the same team they were playing the last time I hit a Nationals game) and partly because tuesday night is free t-shirt give away night (I like free t-shirts).

Nationals 3rd baseman Ryan Zimmerman, pitcher Jason Bergmann and 1st basemand Dmitri Young. A good view from my seats.

The new park is just as easy to get to as the old park.... right on the metro line. Even from Baltimore it was not too much of a journey. The weather was not the greatest that night (that would be the wet spring I talked about earlier) but the rain did hold off. It was a great game too. It was scoreless until the top of the ninth when the Phillies scored one run. Lots of excitment throughout. You know me....I love a good ball game......even when I don't really care who wins.
