London, England
One of my favourite buildings in London....because it is inside out.
Well I decided today that I would head down to see the Changing of the Guard. They do it every even day in September but I was doing something every other even day so it actually worked out that I could do it today. A couple things I did not realize about it, the first was how long it lasted. The whole thing lasted over an hour. The second was how involved it was. I thought that they just marched in, maybe did an inspection and then marched out but it took more than that.
A little shot of the crowd. I guess I am not the only one who likes this stuff.
Of course I did not get there that early so I could not see what was going on inside the fence but I could hear the band. They played some marching tunes that I had heard but they also played some new stuff, including the James Bond theme song (they do love their Bond). I have certainly confirmed while I have been here that I really am a traditionalist and still love all this Monarchy stuff.
Crowd control. This guy must get really tired of telling tourists they can't stand there, or they have to keep walking or to get off the statue.
Sometimes the cars got in the way of pictures.
The boys marching out...finally
Followed by the band.
Hanging out with the rest of the tourists although we were all moving on about now.
After heading back to the hotel to pack some stuff, Adrian and I headed just outside London to Bromley to visit some other friends’ of Debi. (Amanda and her two little daughter Gabriella (2 yrs) and Amelia (1 yrs)). They are very, very cute. They are about 12 months apart in age so very similar to Deb and I. So much fun to visit with them and I had some homemade shanty to top it off. On they way there I got to learn all about London rush hour traffic. Adrian and I thought we would miss it but we did not so it took a little bit longer than it should have but that is ok. It was totally worth it.
Adrian and the Girls. I wonder what she's thinking right now.
I eventually got back to the hotel and finished my packing….the next leg of my journey is set to begin.
