I can't wait until Spring is REALLY here and stuff starts to turn green again.
At the risk of inviting one more really big snow storm to the area, I am going to proclaim that Spring has arrived. The reminisces of the last few snowy days remain mostly in the shade and in the form of what were giant piles of snow removed from the parking lot. With the sun shining I decided to head back downtown to check out some more buildings. Parking is a lot easier to find on Sunday and well....nobody seems to go down there on the weekend (really why would you?) so I was able to roam freely and take pictures at will.
The Capitol. I would tell you which side (you know, north, east, south or west) but if I had anything that even resembled a sense of direction I wouldn't have gotten lost in every European city I visited and I wouldn't have a compass mounted to the dash of my car.
I figured I would start back at the Capitol since it really was central to everything. So nice when there are no cars and I can drive slow, attempt to navigate the weird winding roads and then find a parking spot right out front.
Looking up the stairs to the front door of the Capitol. Pretty sure no one uses these doors except during special events.
Once my memory card was full of more than enough pictures of the Capitol from many different angles I did a little of what I do best.......wander aimlessly.
One more look at the Capitol. It's a nice building ok......I like it.
Ok I have no idea what these are but I found them outside a building and there is a sign there telling people not to touch so they must be something. Suggestions anyone?
I feel like this is a main street in Albany since it leads up to the Capitol.
You notice how many more Broadways you find after you've been to BROADWAY.
Not just any bank. This is the New York State Bank. This building was built in 1803 and is the oldest bank in Albany. It also claims to be the oldest building erected and used continuously as a banking house in the United States.
I found this after I stopped wandering on foot and started wandering by car. This is the Martin Luther King Memorial.
And that in a nutshell...is Albany.....at least the part that has entertained me the most.
