Christmas In PA

Well I survived my Christmas here in Harrisburg. It rained again (seems to be a theme of the holidays) and was generally dark and gloomy weather wise but who needs snow when you have good friends and good food. My Christmas went a little like this. I spent Christmas Eve at work and lucky for us it was a quiet Christmas Eve (those of us who work in the hospital know that shifts during the holiday go one of two ways…unbelievably busy or unbelievably boring)…so in short yes it was quite boring. The ER was full when I got there so they kept a bunch of nurses but luckily for those patients most of their injuries were minor and they were able to go home and spend Christmas with their families. Sara, Julia and I spent the night sharing Christmas stories and pictures and stuff like that…..and we did some nursing care as well.

Christmas morning I went home and had a quick nap and then it was off for a nice early dinner with Tara and her family. So much like home, lots of amazing food,

lots of good conversation

and of course an annoying older brother bugging a very annoyed younger sister (ok Steve so maybe I missed you just a little).

Tara had to pull 3-11pm at the hospital so the afternoon was cut a little short (which ended up being okay because my quick morning nap only kept me awake for so long).

I then went home and called up the family and opened some presents. I know what you’re all saying “how did I manage to wait until 3pm to open my presents”? I’ll tell you it wasn’t easy but much more fun opening them with mom and Debi on the phone than by myself. I must say I got some great stuff (and don’t worry Crystal your gift will be showing up in some pictures very soon!!!!)

I rounded out my Christmas where it began (no not in my nice warm bed) at the hospital. Christmas day not any more exciting than Christmas Eve but hey someone has to be there.

All in all it was a great Christmas. I may have been a little home sick but now that the holidays have passed I am ready for more. I had New Year’s Eve off so there will be some pictures from there was well.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and thank-you to everyone who sent cards (either by mail or email), holiday greetings and all the baby pictures (everyone is getting so big).

Julie
