Yale Peabody Museum Of Natural History
I finally took some time to check out the Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History. It is very similar to the Museum of Natural History in New York but much smaller and not nearly as busy and no annoying little kids so very enjoyable. It was a very nice way to spend a quiet afternoon.
This guy was totally coming right at me but I lucked out because it turned out he was tied to the ceiling.
This is Spirit person mask. It represents a smiling spirit. It made me feel happy.
Ok now I think this guy put a curse on me when I took this picture. This is an ancestral spirit figure used by men in ceremonial dances in New Guinea.
The entrance to Egypt.
I also made a stop at the New Haven Museum and Historical Society. It gave a great little history of New Haven itself and of course another exhibit about the Amistad Africans. I also found this sign in there. I really found it funny. I have learned out here very quickly that you can't drive very far without paying a toll for some portion of the highway but really wish we could pay these prices. Maybe I need to get a horse although a mule would be cheaper.Julie
