Well after our very long friday and saturday I think Deb and I were both looking forward to a nice relaxing sunday....of course that is after Deb got home from work. I managed to sleep in and waited for Deb to get home before we did anything. Deb came home early afternoon and promptly took a nap. When she finallly did wake up we headed back to the the far side to visit Rum Point. We spent a short time there until the sun went down and then headed back home.
No we did stay in that night. We headed to one of Deb's favourite little restaurants, Morgan's Harbour. It is very cute little place right down on the water. The food was really good and the atmosphere was nice and relaxed.
It also just so happened that that very day, a charter deep sea fishing boat was out and spent 6 hours reeling in a what turned out to be a 600 pound marlin. At the time they did not know it was that big but people were pretty sure that it was the record....as in the biggest marlin ever caught in Cayman waters. Deb and I were just hanging out having dinner and people just kept showing up on the dock. Finally when we asked and learned the story we were very happy that we chose to have dinner at that spot.
Word of this record catch spread very quickly accross the island and people were coming from all over to see it. People showed up with carrying thier sleeping children just to catch a glimpse. We were hoping that it would be hung and weighed right there on the dock in front of us but it turned out the fish was even too big for that. They had to take it over to the yacht club to weigh it. The next day Deb learned that it was in fact the record and weighed 600 pounds. Biggest fish I think I will ever see.
