Another state.....another state capitol

The Connecticut State Capitol in Hartford Connecticut

So I finally got my income tax returns (yes there were a few of them) done and in the mail so I decided to make the quick 30 minute trip north to Hartford to check out the state capitol. The building itself is all perched up on a hill and kind of looks like a castle. Although it is a very nice state capitol, I have to rank it 3rd on my list of favourite state capitols (just for the record there are only 3 on the list at this point). Number 2 belongs to the state house in Harrisburg PA just because it was so pretty (see previous blog posting for a reminder of this). Number 1 still belongs to Montana just because we could walk so freely throughout the building (including the floor of the house of representatives). They lock a lot more doors in PA and CT but Montana just lets you right in.

Anyway, here are a few pictures from my quick visit.

Travelers Tower sitting behind Center Church

The Old State House. Notice the slightly different design from the current one.

Me standing in the court room of the Old State house. This room was the site of the very first trials of the Amistad Africans.

P.S. If you are not sure who the Amistad Africans are you should go rent the movie "Amistad". It will tell you all about it. It is a great story.
